Robert clearly does Alexander Technique as this article suggests:

Now as far as I know she didn’t have a lesson in AT, BUT she did have an interest – at least until page 154 of Man’s Supreme Inheritance by FM Alexander. A copy was found on her bookshelves, well thumbed and annotated and here’s a link that will tell you more. http://www.marilynmonroecollection.com/TheBook2.htm
Reckon she could have done with some lessons – that head goes waaaay back when she pouts at the camera. I do love her in Some Like it Hot – one of my favourite movies of all time, Sugar.
Apparently our Pierce is a fan

Don’t know if they’ve actually had lessons, but about 7 years ago they tried to – they came 3/4 way way through a workshop, a colleague was giving in Chelsea Piers New York . She told then they were too late and should come back next week…they never did…as another colleague wrote, that’s almost cool.
Here’s Walking and Falling by laurie anderson on YouTube:
Guess what? It appears that Lionel Logue the speech therapist portrayed by Geoffrey Rush in the new film The King’s Speech had lessons in UK with fellow Aussie, FM Alexander sometime around 1911. Now there’s a surprise.
Happy New Year!
My lovely artsed students have just come back form their xmas break and as usual have returned with written reports from their assignment to lie down everyday. I listened to the first batch of MA papers this morning – wonderful insights and authentic journeys. I hope to put one or two up on the website soon.
I always let them read their papers out to the rest of the group, so they can learn from each other by this sharing. I ask them to mainatin their attention on listening, without commenting, to make it a very safe place to reveal their stories and stop the habit of having to do the ‘noddies’ – signalling that they are listening. It is a practice used in 12 step programmes.
And some have added nice experiences on the I Like Lying Down in Semi-Supine page on Facebook. Check it out!
I have settled the dates for next year’s workshops on the beautiful magical enchanting fragrant Greek Island of Alonnisos:
June 17 – 24th July 1st – 8th July 15th – 22nd September 2nd – 9th
No special teachers week this year as it’s International Congress in August and Alexander wizards will be making their way to Lugano again. Hurrah – more workshop time for all levels!
More pix on my Alexander Technique in Greece page on Facebook……www.facebook.com/AlexanderTechniqueInGreece
See you all there!
Listening to Front Row on Radio 4 this evening, Lenny Henry was being interviewed about his latest show. Apparently, when he was preparing for his first serious role last year as Othello, along with voice coaching he had lessons in the ‘Alexandra’ Technique.
I do hate that. ALEXANDER!! OK? He was a geezer, a bloke…..some of my theatre students make this error and I wonder if it’s because I’m female they assume the great founder of our work must be too. Or because it is a very ‘yin’ discipline and energy…..?
Anyway, nice to know he was helped by AT and voice teachers for his vocal probs.
