End gaining, is one of our biggest habits, being so target orientated we lose any sense of process. Here’s an exercise to help:
Allow the world to come to you. As you walk, change your perspective so you become aware of things coming towards you, going by you as though you are simply walking on the spot and the landscape is changing around you, effortlessly moving as though you are on a travelator. You are likely to find you are walking tall, not scrunched forward and rushing, and your head rising up to the sky…..You can do this when running too. It’s just the travelator is going a little faster. And imagine not only that things are coming toward you, but that the future is coming towards you, the past is where you started from, the future is your destination, gliding towards you effortlessly, the present moment is the moment of your walking. A space-time continuum. Photo below is where a bunch of folks in my workshop were allowing a long lost friend to come towards them, ending in a big hug. All my classes seem to like that exercise…..
